In 1938 - Torre Builders Supply Company Inc., was established.
In 1955 - Torre Lumber open its original business location on School Street in Yonkers. The company supplied sand, gravel, cement, roofing supplies and mason materials.
The company felt that masonry supplies were not enough, so they added Lumber as part of their building supplies. Employees started to answer the phone as "Torre Lumber." With supply and demand, Frank Torre Sr. started to look around for more space for the company.
In 1963, a junkyard on Silk Place off of Nepperhan Avenue was an ideal location. This needed a lot of cleanup, which was ideal space for the company. Frank Torre Sr. saw the vision of the new location and started to build the dream.
When completion was finished, Torre Lumber went the City of Yonkers and put the request in for the Name Change on the street to be called "Torre Place."
Frank Sr.s' motto was "Quality Service is #1" - Torre Lumber one-one quality service ranks #1 with brothers Frank Jr., Robert, Donald and Albert Torre - always available for your needs. To us, our customers are the most important and our service to them must be #1.
